Wonder   and   Bloom   Preschool

Welcome to Wonder and Bloom, a Reggio-inspired and nature-based preschool program for children 2.5-5 years old. Our mission is to foster creativity, critical thinking skills and confidence through play, while allowing children to follow their natural curiosities.

Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Angelica

I have been teaching early education for 10 years and in the Head Start preschool setting for the past 6 years. I have had 6 years of trauma informed training and have had 7 years of experience teaching children with various support needs, including neurodivergent children. My time at Head Start allowed me the experience of collaborating with early intervention and mental health specialists. During this time my love for providing a safe space for all children grew and I am excited to continue providing a safe and welcoming space for all children at Wonder & Bloom. When I’m not teaching preschool, I love spending time outside and at local places with my two daughters and husband. We love camping, going to the park, library trips, and eating at fun restaurants and coffee shops.

Reggio Emilia Philosophy

Under the Reggio Emilia approach, children are seen as active, capable and valuable members of the community. Children are encouraged to explore, question, and interpret the world. Educators using the Reggio Emilia approach believe children should have control over their learning. Children have many languages in art, music, and drama, and are encouraged to learn through experiences like listening, moving, touching and observing.
The teacher is seen as the collaborator, rather than the instructor. Coming alongside the children and paying close attention to the children’s interests. The teacher then provides invitations and provocations based on those interests and asks questions to further curiosity and build inquiry skills.
The environment is seen as another teacher. A Reggio environment is thoughtfully designed with natural and home items and materials. The environment should encourage children to explore and respect their indoor and outdoor environment.

About the Program

We accept ERDC payments

At Wonder and Bloom, we emphasize inquiry skills, socialization, hands-on learning, teamwork, respect, concentration, patience, confidence, self-esteem, autonomy, and diversity. Children will explore nature through natural items in their inside environment and outdoor play and exploration. We work hard to provide a safe and welcoming environment. We provide parents with daily updates and photos through Brightwheel and offer family engagement opportunities through volunteering and family events. Our play and nature-based teaching approach integrates all developmental areas, including language and literacy, social/emotional skills, math, science, physical development, social science, and creative arts. By focusing on developmentally appropriate practices, we ensure that activities support the children's individual readiness; promoting self-confidence, independent thinking, creativity, and social-emotional skills.

"My kids and I met Angelica at Little Bird Childcare and, as a mom, putting your kids in childcare for the first time is scary. Immediately, when I met her, I could tell she was very warm-hearted and I knew my kids would be in good hands with her. I love her teaching style and how patient she is. I couldn't be more happy for Angelica to have her own preschool to have the ability to have her daughters with her while doing what she's wonderful at. I'd recommend Angelica to any and everybody."- Karen N., Parent"I've had the privilege of working alongside Teacher Angelica for several years. Angelica has a passion for teaching young minds and hearts. In her classroom, all are welcome. She is a teacher who will validate their feelings, encourage curiosity, and model healthy friendship skills. In my years working with Angelica, I've witnessed her soft, nurturing approach. She captivates her students with her creative learning invitations and then guides them to deeper thinking and exploration. Any child who is fortunate enough to be taught by her will benefit academically, emotionally, and socially. Her understanding of child development ensures that her classroom will incorporate lots of play. She allows your child to discover their natural learning style and rhythm. Undoubtedly any child will thrive in her presence."- Enthusiastically, Teacher Yacine.

"I had the privilege of working with Angelica at Head Start as an assistant teacher in her classroom. Angelica is one of the most amazing teachers I've ever worked with. She is so loving and patient with the children and tries to understand where they are coming from in every way. She worked, worked, and worked with children who had challenging behaviors with so much calmness, love and respect. She has a wonderful teaching style and her Regio classroom was always so serene and natural. I cannot say enough about how much I learned from Angelica and what a wonderful teacher and human being she is."-Krista H., Assistant Teacher"We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Angelica into our home to care for our four children over the summer, and then again occasionally. She is by far the most capable and thoughtful caregiver we have ever had the pleasure of working with. Often structuring activities around natural play and learning, she allowed the kids to have fun, while teaching them important skills. She has a gentle and kind approach, and all of our kids absolutely adore her. Most importantly, I always felt assured that she was confident and capable to care for all of our kids at once - leaving me the freedom to focus on whatever I needed to while they were in her care. She is a great communicator, and handles even tough situations with respect and grace. I would recommend her to anyone - if you get the chance, don’t sleep on the opportunity to have her as a caregiver for your child(ren)!"-Courtney S., Parent
